When was the last time you felt ‘alive’ - truly alive?
Perhaps you can’t remember and instead feel like you are living on autopilot - just going through the motions of life. This emotional state of weariness, that can feel like you are merely 'existing' is one that I - and perhaps you can also can relate to.
It's why I was so interested and keen to chat to my guest this week whose experience of feeling a constant “restless emptiness” became almost too much to bear - until he flipped it and rewrote his narrative.
On a mission to heal his own wounds and to live a life full of colour, Corey Keyes became a sociologist to find out if other people felt the same. His research eventually led to him coining the terms “languishing” and its antidote “flourishing”, or good mental health.
In the end, what saved Corey from his past was something that couldn’t be found in books or academia, but something much closer to home.
So, if you ever find yourself feeling low, sad or as if this world is weighing you down, I hope my conversation with Corey will help you to build a buffer against the pressures of modern life and find true flourishing.
